And the results are in!

Well... after approximately 7 hours of competition we walked out of the gym in Casper with 11 medals.

Yellow-belt Jessica got first place for weapons kata with her performance of the bo-kata Sho no kun
Green-blet Jessica got 2nd place for empty-hand kata with Pinan Godan and 2nd place in weapons kata with a nunchaku kata
Brett got 3rd place in empty-hand kata with Pinan Yodan and 2nd place in weapons kata with an adapted version of Nunchaku Yodan, which we jokingly call Brett Yondan
Kate got 3rd place in empty-hand kata with Gankaku
Brown-belt Kyle tied for first (even after a tie-breaker) for empty-hand kata with his exquisite performance of Empi and also tied for first in weapons kata with the bo-kata Sho ken no kun.
Cousin-Ben got 1st in empty hand kata with a kata with a long name that I can't remember, I think it might've be Hatkutsuru Dai and 1st in weapons kata, also with Sho ken no kun
Black-belt Kyle got 3rd place in empty hand kata with Gankaku.

Brown-belt Kyle, Cousin-Ben, and I all got 4th in our respective sparring competitions. I was in a 5-competitor ring, me and four guys. I won my first match, but lost the other two, though apparantly my second opponent thought I'd won and several people thought that I'd won the final bout... but points're pretty subjective, so *shrugs* I did my best. Kyle and Ben were both in 4-competitor rings. We all thought that Kyle'd won his second bout, but apparantly the judges didn't agree.

I'm told that it looked like I scared my first opponant and looked like I was beating him up for his lunch money or something. It's certainly an interesting picture. I also got several compliments on my ferocity and spirit... I had fun.

After it was all said and done, and medals awarded we all ended up at a restaraunt and ate far too much, then hit the road home. Somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 of the way back to Laramie we got pulled over. We were in a carpool of two and we honestly have no clue where the cop came from, but let's just say that Cousin-Ben's going to see if Soke can get the club to pay the $120 in speeding fines ($60 for each vehicle... after taking $10 off for everyone having their seat-belts on).

We did eventually get back to Laramie alright... just with a slight delay...

*drumroll*

It's officially really frickin' cold up here... really frickin' cold... and that says a lot comin' from me. Being Friday, it's ghost night, huzzah! every Friday night on Travel from 1 pm on it's just ghost/mystery shows one after another, and their usually pretty good. That being said, Karen and I watch them until I get the call the Bronwyn's picking me up for game.

But anyway, enough about my Friday habits.

Harkening back to my last post, I passed my Kyu-test, so I'm officially a blue belt, and I've been officially ordered to go to open dojo this weekend because there's one other person from our group who signed up to spar at CSG, and he's never done it before and we both need the practice. I'm participating at the yellow belt level because that's what I was when I reged, he'll be competing at the brown belt level because he just tested for 3rd Brown (ichikyu/first kyu), which means that he'll be testing for black next winter. It'll be fun to finally get to spar again, even if I lose, which I tend to do in point matches. Additionally several members of the dojo are participating in the kata and/or weapons kata competition, so wish us luck, just a week and a day to go and I'll be sure to post the results afterward.

Since it's been and gone I suppose I should wish everyone a happy V-day. I hid in my room from the cold that day... instead of going to karate... I've been a bad girl, but it's been consistantly 20 below with windchill.

Anyway, I think that that's about it. Good night and god bless... or at least go safely...

Guess it's my turn to update...

Ahh, yes, I remember this place... but anyway...

So much is going on that I'm not quite sure where to start, so I guess I'll start with the first thing that comes to mind. After a long fight with the beauracracy I have a roommate I actually want (huzzah!) and without too much trouble, actually, and we're getting on fine.

The D&D game I was supposed to be in this semester isn't happening after all because the GM was asked to go elsewhere to get his grades up this semester, which sucks. On the other hand, the V:tM game is still going full-bore. It's been fun watching the new Assamite PC and the Tremere NPC at eachother's throats. Oh, did I mention that we're now running like hell from what appears to be a permanentally obfuscated skin walker? This whole thing just keeps getting better and better. Oh, and the V:tM group has a new euphamism for being dead/ashed: "lives in his shoes"... We found the city's sherrif and he ashed right after we found him, so to get him back to the Elysium Fara-Kur (the other Malk) carried his ashes back in his shoes. So, yes, a Malkavian stood up in front of the council, announced, "the sherrif lives in my shoes," and dumped the sherrif's ashes onto the council table... That had some fun results...

I am now officially bored in my Calc II class... apparantly they don't do integration until Calc II here, I'm told that it'll get more interesting later... I pray it does...

I have my kyu-test this afternoon to test for sitchikyu (7th kyu) which is 1st blue in this style. I swear to god, this is the only style where blue comes before green. This'll be the last test for which I won't need weapons kata. For the next one, which'll probably come at end of semester, I'll need two bo-kata (isn't that fun?).

Also a large group of us are car-pooling to Casper on the 25th of February to participate in Cowboy State Games. I think I'm either the only person sparring, or one of a small number (since the one other person who really spars broke his knee and won't be able to participate) and I'm really looking forward to it. The rules'll be a little different (like head shots and knee shots are legal within certain parameters) but I won't have to wear the bloody chest-protector, so I'm pleased as punch. I'm not sure how I'll do, but we'll see. I'm hoping to have pictures, since there are a few people going who are just spectating becuase they don't feel comfortable competing. I'm not even positive who all else is going... I know that Kate and Kyle are both going for kata and I think that Cousin-Ben'll be doing both, but we'll see. Either way, though, it'll be a blast, wish me luck.

Well, now I have to head off, but I think I got everything in, and if I didn't, well, I'll just edit the post later, so... yeah...

See y'all and have a nice day.
